Review…

I was sent the MegaMesh Screen Door by Easy Install for review.  This screen door has won the Best Choice award for having the best price and the best quality of comparable products.

The MegaMesh Screen Door can be found on Amazon.  The original price is $59.99, but is currently on sale for $29.97 with free shipping for Prime members.

Packaging & Presentation

When I received the MegaMesh Screen Door, the package was larger than I thought it would be!  The screen itself is 36" x 83" with 26 strong magnets, so it was big enough to hold all of it.
I took off the cellophane plastic, and inside was the folded up screen door, the descriptive title insert, and a small bag containing Velcro strips and thumb tacks.

Package Front

The back of the package was just clear, you can see the folded screen through the back.

Package Back

The instructions are printed on the back of the descriptive title insert.  I really like that the company does this.  I'm big into limited waste, so it was pleasant not seeing additional paper used for the purpose of instructions only.

My Personal Experience with the MegaMesh Screen Door

I must say this was really easy-- from the install to basic usage, I was impressed with the outcome.  I have outlined the entire process so you can see just how easy it was.  I will also annotate the amount of time each step took.

The first step was washing down the door frame with a damp cloth.  That was easy.  It took about 5 seconds to do that!  Immediately after, the directions said to measure the top of the door frame and mark the center with a small pencil mark.  This part took about 1 minute.

Measuring my door frame

After that, I unfolded the screen and laid it flat on my kitchen floor.  I took out the Velcro strips from the small bag that was included.  I took the long strip and connected it to the top, and connected the remaining 8 strips to the perimeter of the screen.  This took about 2 minutes.

Putting the Velcro on

Lastly, attach it to the door!  Peel off the white backing on the Velcro and stick it as you intend. Make sure that you place the center of the screen with the pencil mark that you originally measured so it is on center.  The bottom of the screen door should not drag or fold under itself on the floor.  If you feel you need more security beyond the Velcro, you can place the included thumb tacks around the perimeter, too.  I did not place the thumb tacks.  The door that I placed the mesh door is located in an area where there isn't a bunch of wind or heavy traffic that would easily knock it down.  The placement of the screen door took around 3 minutes.

When all is said and done, it works beautifully! My son wanted so desperately to be the first to test it out.

Pros of the MegaMesh Screen Door
  • No bugs.  Unfortunately, we live in an area with a high population of gnats.  I can easily keep the airflow without pesky gnats getting inside.
  • Airflow!  I do not have a permanent screen door on this specific entryway, so this is perfect! It allows me to open the door to let some natural air in.
  • The Velcro.  You don't have to keep it up.  If you don't need it up for a while, you can take it down to store it, and place it back up when you need it.
  • The price.  At $29.97, it is cheaper than the cheapest permanent screen door than you can find.
  • The magnets are incredibly strong.  It held together very, very well.

Cons of the MegaMesh Screen Door
  • The Velcro has to stay around.  If you take down the screen door, the Velcro is there to stay.  I'm not sure if I like that the Velcro that sticks to the walls is black.  I think that part should be white or tan so it blends in a bit.
  • I would also like it if there were more colors to choose from.

Summary

I love, love, love the MegaMesh Screen Door.  It is great for parties, for carrying the groceries in, and more.  I like to sit outside at night, and I have a porch light right next to the door that attracts every single bug in the universe, and this screen is the ultimate barrier from these bugs getting inside when I open and close the door.

It is easy for my son to get in and out, and I never have to worry about him forgetting to close the door behind him!

I can honestly recommend the MegaMesh Screen Door for anybody that is considering adding a screen to an existing door.  This one works great, and it is inexpensive.

Installed in about 6 minutes, the MegaMesh Screen Door is simple enough that even the DIY amateur will not have a problem with it.
