Review…

I was a sent the 1.0mm 540-needle Derma Roller and the Professional Vitamin C Serum from Petunia Skincare to review.

The price for the Derma Roller is $18.97, and the price for the Vitamin C Serum is $26.97.  Both of these products qualify for free shipping with Amazon Prime.

Packaging & Presentation of
Petunia Skincare's Vitamin C Serum & Derma Roller

I would like to start with the Derma Roller as this is the most interesting of the pair.  The Derma Roller arrived in a smooth flip box with a little window in it so you can see the product.  The front of the box labels the product, and the back of the box outlines the benefits and advantages of using this Derma Roller.

On one side of the box, you can find a model guide with a warning label.  The other side hosted the directions for use.  They are easy to understand.

After unboxing the Derma Roller, I found that it comes enclosed in a silver tight-seal bag. I like knowing that something that I'm going to roll over my skin is sent to me with a sanitary barrier.

Next, I'd like to describe the Vitamin C Serum's packaging.  This arrived in a cute little white flip-top box 4.5" x 1.5" x 1.5".

The front of the box titled the product and listed its main ingredients.

The back of the box provides a brief description of why you need to use this product and gives proper warnings before use.  One side of the box lists the 7 benefits that this serum provides, indications, and directions.  The other side outlines the advantages of two of its main ingredients:  ferulic acid and hyaluronic acid.

The front of the bottle itself is a replica of the box, but in label-form.  The back of the bottle provides another brief description, quick directions, ingredients list, and company information.  The period-after-opening (PAO) is 12 months.

This bottle is composed of glass, which I prefer for all of my face products.  Like many other serums, this one also uses the dropper method.  The top of the bottle has the squeeze top cap.

Unlike other serums I've used, this one has a safety seal.  When you twist it open for the first time, you must break  the seal to get the top off.  Petunia Skincare is big on safe skincare, and this is apparent with these products.

After opening it, you are presented with a dropper, the way that you are to apply this serum.

My Personal Experience with Petunia Skincare's Vitamin C Serum & Derma Roller

The Derma Roller looked pretty exciting, so I unwrapped that one first!  A Derma Roller helps absorption of your products, stimulates collagen production, and so much more.  Since I was using the Vitamin C Serum in conjunction with the Derma Roller, I figured it would work to aid the absorption of the serum.

The first thing I did was unwrap the Derma Roller from its packaging.  There is a little slit that allows you to tear it without having to break out the scissors.

When I slid it out of the packaging, the Derma Roller was seated nicely inside its own little fitted plastic case with "1.0mm" marked on the front.

The Derma Roller head is stationary, it does not swivel.  There are 540 needles positioned on the head.  There is also a finger grip that allows for a more precision use.

I love using this on my face before applying the serum.  Before I used it, I wanted to describe a little bit about it.  The fragrance is light, and it smells really nice.  The serum itself has a semi-high viscosity, it pretty much stays in place.  It is an off-white color, and it absorbs easily into the skin.

I used the serum on my hand as an example.

I began by using the Derma Roller, and primed my skin for maximum absorption.  After a few minutes, I placed a few dots on my hand.  You can see that it kind of runs, but mostly it stays where you put it.

I used my other hand to rub it in, using clockwise motions.  My skin was smooth and silky, and it feels light underneath makeup.  It also produces a little bit of a 'glow' if you use it a few times in a row.

Pros of Petunia Skincare's Vitamin C Serum & Derma Roller
  • Safety-- both of these products had different methods of providing the ultimate safety to the customer.  When dealing with skincare, this is important.
  • The Derma Roller primes your skin to absorb more of your product.
  • It's cheaper to buy one than pay somebody at a spa for the same service.
  • The serum smells nice, the formula works into the skin nicely.
  • I've used other products from Petunia Skincare, and I've never had a complaint about their formula.
  • I've noticed a small 'glowing' of the skin after using the serum several times.

Cons of Petunia Skincare's Vitamin C Serum & Derma Roller
  • The Derma Roller does not swivel, this makes it hard to go around areas such as the ears, etc.
  • The Vitamin C Serum uses the dropper-method application method.
        Summary

These are great products.  As far as using them, the Derma Roller feels strange.  It doesn't hurt, but it is definitely prickly.  I like to use it about every other day or so.  The serum has been a staple in my beauty routine since I've received it.  I really enjoy it so far, and have noticed a change in my skin, namely my face.  I've actually recently received a compliment about my 'radiant skin'.
