..::Review + Giveaway::.. e-cloth's Real Simple 9-piece Set

My Review of e-cloth's Real Simple Set
What is it exactly?

     From the website. . .
"At e-cloth, we don’t like to say we sell cleaning cloths, we sell Chemical Free Cleaning.  This isn’t some marketing gimmick and we’re not an As Seen On TV disappointment that you hear about on the evening news - In fact, e-cloth is featured in the May issue of Real Simple and has been rated Best of the Best in three separate categories! Chemical Free Cleaning isn’t a product as much as a lifestyle change.  Choosing to clean differently in order to clean better with less effort, and make your home safer by eliminating toxic chemicals.
e-cloth is just a better cloth and a better clean!"

Review…

I was sent the the Real Simple 9-piece Set from e-cloth to review.

The price for this set is $111.91, and shipping is free.

Packaging & Presentation of e-cloth's Real Simple Set

This was a huge box!  I had no idea what to expect since I wasn't familiar with e-cloth or its products.  The box came, and I was really excited to open it up and see what it had in it!

I opened the box, and here is what I saw:

I found a contents list so I could become familiar with the kit.

Here are all of the pieces including the mop:

First, I learned about the General Purpose Cloth.  This kit comes with 2 of them.

The next box I pulled out was the Glass & Polishing Cloth.  There are also 2 of these in this kit.

There was a Dust Mop Head and a Deep Clean Mop Head.

The next product was the Deep Clean Mop itself.

Finally, I checked out the Washing Up Pad.  This kit contains 2 of these.

My Personal Experience with e-cloth's Real Simple Set

Cleaning with only water?  I didn't even think that was possible.  That was until e-cloth came up with a system that removes over 99% of bacteria by using their products and only water. Their products thoroughly clean remotely everything you can think of by using their e-cloth technology.

Basically, "e-cloths have 1.6 million fibers per square inch.  By combing e-cloth's unique fiber technology with water, they break up and hold grease, grime, and bacteria, which normal cloths leave behind".  For a more in-depth explanation of this, please check out e-cloth's How It Works page on their website.

I'll admit that I was a little skeptical about this product, it just seemed too good to be true.  Saving money on a bunch of cleaning supplies?  Not exposing my kids to a ton of chemicals while trying to rid the house of dirt?  There had to be a catch, right?

Nope. It really is awesome.  Every. Single. Piece.  I tested each one to the core-- I used it on some pretty nasty projects around the house.  Take a look at my results below!

First and foremost, this is e-cloth, and it works with water.  SO, I filled up a spray bottle with nothing but water.  That was pretty easy!

Next, I began with the mop because my kitchen floor needed it!  I've been letting it go for a couple days so I can really see the e-cloth's power.  Before actually mopping, you have to use the Dust Mop to remove the loose dust and dirt before wet mopping.  Even before this, I had to set up my mop.  The Deep Clean Mop uses a telescopic pole and the push button method to hold it in place.  I made sure to lock it before I attached anything to the head.

The next step is to use the Dust Mop Head.  The mop automatically comes with the Deep Clean Mop Head attached, so you easily just pull it off (it's Velcro), and push the other on.  Simple!

...and then I dust mopped.  I swept earlier, but this mop picked up more than I thought was even on the floor.

...and then I reattached the Deep Clean Mop Head, sprayed some water on the floor, and mopped!  The dirt that was on the mop head afterward is pretty gross!

Are you ready to see the awesome part?  Check it out!  Before and after.  My floor is actually shiny!  Just by using water.

The next product I used was the General Purpose Cloth.

This is also really, really effective.  It removes thick grease, grime, and bacteria from all hard surfaces.  My first test was the kitchen counter.  I scrub this thing all the time.  I sprayed water, and three swipes had my counters looking great.

Microwave?  Please.  It's no match for the General Purpose e-cloth!

Do you think it's ironic that you have to wash a washing machine?  I do.  But it's easy with e-cloth!

Lastly, I walked around to find the light switch that needed to be cleaned the most.  Check this one out.  All with water!

Moving right along on to the Glass & Polishing Cloth!

This cloth gives the perfect finish on glass and all shiny surfaces.  I love shiny things, so I definitely wanted to check this one out!  You can use it on windows, mirrors, stainless steel, and chrome.

The first thing I wanted to polish up is my Berkey Water System.  I love this thing, but it was looking a little dull as of late.  The e-cloth gave it its spunk back!

I wanted to try it on my back door windows, too. Check out the top 3 panes.  I love how it gives it a streak-free shine.

The last product in my kit was the Washing Up Pad.

This pad is dual sided for even the toughest washing up tasks.  I'll be honest here-- I hate doing dishes!  After I cook, I kind of let them sit on the counter until the next morning.  I know it's a terrible habit, but it's just me.  I had a medium-sized pot and a noodle-grabber that needed to soak.  I figured they would be good test subjects for the e-cloth Washing Up Pad!

This is the medium-sized pot.  It had oil and salt in it, and it left a pretty nasty ring around the inside.  The Washing Up Pad didn't even need any pressure whatsoever.  I kind of just lightly dragged it around, and my pot came out as clean as ever.

Next, we have the evil noodle-grabber utensil.  This is made of plastic, and pretty much absorbs every piece of food that it comes in contact with.  I despise washing this.  For this one, there was a bunch of dried noodle pieces on it, so I used the rougher side of the scrubber and then the yellow side to finish it up.  I was literally scrubbing for maybe 20-30 seconds until it was as good as new.

Pros of e-cloth's Real Simple Set
  • No chemicals.  That's right-- only water.  Kills 99% of bacteria by using e-cloth technology.
  • Each washable piece is good for over 300 washes.  That's saving a ton of money!
  • Picked by Real Simple magazine as the Best Product in 3 Cleaning Categories--  Best Scrubber, Best All-Around, and Best Washable Mop.
  • Good Housekeeping Institute Awards Winner
  • The proof is in the pictures-- this really, really, really works. And it works fast!
  • One kit is enough to clean your entire house! No need to get separate chemicals for each room, etc.
  • You don't have to buy the kit if you don't want to-- you can get individual pieces if that suits your needs more.
  • Once you try it, you'll be addicted.  I love my kit!
Cons of e-cloth's Real Simple Set
  • It's unscented.  Well, obviously.  You are cleaning with water.  I am a fragrance maniac, so I thought it would be neat if e-cloth would be able to conjure up a small scented concentrate that one can purchase separately to put into the water to create a light, clean smell.  This would be totally optional, but it has to be something that would not ruin the integrity of the e-cloth technology.  This isn't really a con, it's just something to consider.
Summary

I am totally in love with e-cloth.  This kit has proved itself amazing.  I've used it all over the house, and it has not failed me yet.  It's great for wet AND dry cleaning.  My sister-in-law came over tonight and saw me mopping with the Deep Clean Mop Head, and she was curious.  I told her that it was making my floor shiny with water, and even she looked surprised!  This is such a versatile product.  With Christmas coming up, you know, there are a lot of people who would love to have their own kit!  e-cloth also offers a variety of other products, so be sure to check them out.
