"Each month a fully designed project kit arrives in a delightful box filled with stamps, ink, and paper—everything cut and ready to go so you can skip to the fun. Just think of it as creativity in a box."
Review…
I was sent the June 2015 box from Stampin' Up to review.
The price for a 1-month subscription is $19.95. A neat quality about Paper Pumpkin is that you can increase the number of kits per month. If you are having a crafting party, you can order one kit per attendee in the same master order.

Packaging & Presentation of the June Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box
I was pretty excited to come home and see a little red Paper Pumpkin box sitting in the mailbox! The exterior box is red and baby blue, and it is small enough to fit into a standard mailbox. It measures 10.0" x 6.5" x 1.75".The side of the box says, "You're moments away from your escape..." and the bottom of the box is labeled 'Stampin' Up'.
When I opened the box, I was introduced to a tissue paper wrapped box of goodies (sealed with a cute Paper Pumpkin sticker!) with a subscription introduction pamphlet. The inside of the box also completed the statement from the exterior with, "...Run away with me."
The first layer of unwrapping revealed this month's (June) stamp set, and (1) Classic Stampin' Spot in 'Tip Top Taupe'.
The final layer housed the actual June kit, 'Happy Thoughts'.
The main title sheet provides a quick run-down of what you need to do, and it also opens up for a few more detailed instructions. What I like about Paper Pumpkin, is that they also provide YouTube video demonstrations on how to create the months' craft. It is a helpful assistant, one in which I used! You can view this month's video above.
My Personal Experience with the June Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box
After unpacking everything, I was certainly ready to start creating! First, before anything, I unpacked the actual kit and sat down and watched the YouTube video so I got an idea of what I was supposed to do (I'm a visual learner).
After watching the YouTube video and had an idea of what I was supposed to do, I was really looking forward to getting started. This month seemed like it was a longer craft, and there are many different details that previous months. I love the style, and I have so many uses for a project like this. This project makes (2) cards with matching envelopes: an 'It's Your Day' card and a 'Happy Thoughts For You' card.
I began with the 'It's Your Day' card. To get started, I applied the decorative stickers to the small white rectangle.
I stamped the 'It's Your Day' into the little blank space.
Next, I created the base for the actual card. I used the big flower stamp and coated it with the ink and dabbed once on the project cardboard to make it a little lighter in color before stamping on the actual card.
Then, I used a dimensional in each corner of the decorated rectangle piece and attached it to the front of my stamped card.
Next, onto the flower. This flower is punched out of four parts. I had to attach the center and the leaves. I used glue dots for the leaves and dimensionals to hold the center on.
Cut 20" of twine. Stick glue dots all over the back of your flower.
Twist up the twine and attach it in a random pattern to the glue dots on the back of the flower.
Then you are all done! Actually, there is a little crystal that you attach to the center of the flower, but I forgot to take a picture of that step. It's shown on the finished picture of both cards towards the bottom.
Onto the 'Happy Thoughts For You' card. This one took a lot of time. First, stick the triangle stickers in a pattern. There are also some real wood triangles, too. For this, I used the glue dots to stick them on.
Attach four dimensionals to the back of the pendant onto the larger pendant-shaped card.
Use the 'Happy Thoughts For You' stamp front and center.
After this, cut another 20" of twine. I felt like this was a little much, so for my next cards, I'd probably only use 10"-15". In the video it was tied in a knot. I tied mine in a bow.
Add three wooden stars using glue dots.
After this, I stamped little decorations on the back of the envelopes. For the pendant card, I used a star and for the flower card, I used a flower.
For the envelope linings, the video used thin double-sided tape. I didn't have this, so I just attached some glue dots and that worked.
In the end, you have two awesome looking cards!
Pros of the June Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box
- Everything is included. There is no need to run to the craft store for anything that you may have forgot.
- Each month brings a new craft, right to your door.
- The crafts have detailed instructions including video instructions.
- This craft took some thought and time. It's not something you will do quickly.
- I had a lot of fun with this kit, because you can do so much with it. In fact, you can manipulate these crafts and do what works for you.
Cons of the June Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box
- I really need to go buy a roll of double sided tape. The past two boxes needed it, and I don't have any on hand.
Summary
I am so happy with this month's kit. There are two different cards to choose from, and they are both extremely useful. I love sending cards, and I believe that the written word is more powerful than the virtual one. These cards are great for encouragement, or just a quick note when somebody is down. I will find tons of uses for these!
