..::Product Review::..Exuviance Performance Peel AP 25

My Review of the Exuviance Performance Peel AP 25

What is it exactly?

     From the brochure . . .
"A 25% blend of AHAs and PHAs including Glycolic Acid, Mandelic Acid and Gluconolactone that exfoliates dead, dull surface layers, and stimulates the process of cell renewal among all skin layers, to reveal healthier cells. Clinical studies after one month of twice weekly use when used with an Exuviance PHA regimen indicate:"

Review…

Exuviance recently sent me a sample of the 2-step Performance Peel AP 25, OptiLight Essential 6 Serum, and the Evening Restorative Complex for review!

You can find this product pretty much at any high-end beauty retailer.  At Ulta, a box of 13 costs $75.00, the same box on Amazon is $65.20.  After researching prices, the average price  is $68.00  The average price of the Essential 6 serum is $65.00, and the average price of the Evening Restorative Complex is $35.00 across all retailers.

Packaging & Presentation

As far as the sampling package goes, it was pretty simple.  The peel came packaged with thorough instructions.  The restorative complex came in a small squeeze tube, and the serum arrived in a miniature pump.

Here are the 2-step peel packets from Exuviance.  The first step is the activator pad, and the second step is the neutralizer.

The 2-step peel packets

The Exuviance Evening Restorative Complex, complete with usage instructions on the back.

Lastly, the Exuviance OptiLight Essential 6 Serum and its miniature application pump.  There were no usage directions anywhere on the bottle, nor anywhere in the entire packet.

My Personal Experience with the Exuviance Performance Peel AP 25

First and foremost, as soon as I received the package I opened the OptiLight Essential 6 Serum and applied a little bit (what can I say, I was excited!!).  I've never heard of Exuviance, and after doing some research I found out that it is really popular with the higher-end retailers.

I just did the peel approximately 30 minutes ago, so this review is fresh in my mind.

I opened the packet, and pulled out the large card.  The front of the card was about a challenge, but it showed improvement of fine lines and wrinkles.  Sometimes products claim this kind of stuff, but they never live up to their claims. This improvement was made after 1 month of twice weekly use.

Front of the card, the Exuviance challenge

Next, I checked out the back of the card. It gave simple directions for the Performance Peel AP 25.  It also gave warnings, ingredients, and simple contact information for Exuviance.

Back of the card, instructions for use

I opened up the Step 1 packet, and here is what it looked like:

After opening Step 1 of the Performance Peel AP 25

I guess I was expecting a gel peel, but it was more of a liquid on a pressed cotton pad.  I washed and dried my face, and then applied the peel.

I waited 10 minutes, and then put Step 2 on, the neutralizer.  After this, I rinsed my face with warm water.  Then I applied the Evening Restorative Complex.

It was easy enough.  After applying Step 1, the skin on my face became instantly tight.  It was strange.  The longer I kept the peel on, the tighter my skin became. When the 10 minutes was up, it was time for Step 2.  This neutralizer seemed like it wiped away the tightness of Step 1, as it was no longer uncomfortable.  When I rinsed it all off with warm water, I must admit that my face felt like I got a face lift.  It was insane.

Lastly, the final step.  The Evening Restorative Complex.  This was pretty amazing, because it seemed to settle everything.  It gave my skin the soft feeling back.  It was not greasy, and it absorbed in the skin really fast. Oh, and it smelled so good!!

When all is said and done, I must admit that I was pretty impressed with the results.  I was kind of concerned because this was not the typical 'peel' that I have done in the past.

It is recommended that you use this two times per week for one month.  After ONE USE I noticed a difference in the elasticity of my face.  It is a great brand, and one I can personally recommend.  I don't think I can go back to those cheap-o peels anymore after trying Exuviance.

Pros of the Exuviance Performance Peel AP 25
  • I can see that after 1 month of using this product, that it will live up to its claim.  This is an outstanding peel.
  • It's not a 'conventional peel'.  It uses a 2-step process in order to simply the peel, and not have to deal with the messiness of actually peeling the mask off.
  • The moisturizer settles the peel, it gives back the natural feel of your skin without negating the effects of the peel.

Cons of the Exuviance Performance AP 25
  • I have absolutely no idea what to do with the OptiLight Essential 6 Serum.  There were no instructions on how or when to use this product.
  • The Evening Restorative Complex does not come in a set with the Performance Peel AP 25, even though it is recommended that you use the complex after completion of the peel.
  • This peel is pricey. It does work, and it works great!  If you have the money, this is the peel that you need to get.  I was really happy with the results.

Summary

This was a far more interesting product that I thought it would be.  The first step of the peel tightened the skin, the second step neutralized the first, and the restorative complex capped everything at the end.

Would I recommend this product?  Absolutely. I've tried many a peel in my day, and never have I had one that worked quite like this in only 10 minutes!
