Packaging & Presentation

The Bru Joy can opener is pretty standard when it comes to its packaging.  It is boxed, and when the box is opened, the can opener is visible through a plastic film bag.  The front of the box shows exactly what is inside-- the can opener!  There were no included instructions or pointers on the other 2 tools that are included on the can opener.

The back of the original box did give some supporting information about the can opener.

My Personal Experience with the Bru Joy 3-in-1 Deluxe Can Opener

The first thing that I noticed as soon as I held this can opener is that it is durable. It's not super heavy, but it does have some weight on it, which makes for an easier can opening experience.  The first feature that I looked at was the knob.  The box said is was large in order to make turning it easier.  It did!  It turned easily without a lot of force.

I examined the underside of the can opener, and it is not cheaply constructed.  I have a Kitchen Aid can opener that I've had for 8 years, and this is made just the same (if not better!)

The manufacturer mentioned that this is not just a can opener, it is a 3-in-1 multipurpose can opener.  In the picture below, I am showing the bottle opener as well as the soda tab lifter.  These functional tools do not hinder the use of the can opener mechanism at all.

Well, you know that I had to put it to the test!  Bru Joy claims that this can opener creates a smooth cut, no rough edges.  Let me tell you, the claim is true.  After removing the lid of the can, I was able to run my finger up and down the side of the cut can with no issues.

Lastly, another feature I noticed that was not mentioned is that there are little u-hooks on the end of the handles.  I am not sure what these are for, but I would like to think they are for hanging the can opener on the kitchen wall if you do not have available space elsewhere.

Pros of the Bru Joy 3-in-1 Deluxe Can Opener

• The claims are true.  It doesn't create rough edges after usage.

• It has weight to it allowing an easy glide around the lid.

• The handle doesn't get stuck like other openers.  It quickly turns with ease.

• Multipurpose.  I'm not sure I would use the other functional tools, but they are there if I ever need them!

• Design.  This can opener is designed for people who cannot put a lot of stress on such a trivial task as opening a can.  This can opener helps with providing the power without strain.

• This is a very well made can opener that will last a long time.

Cons of the Bru Joy 3-in-1 Deluxe Can Opener

• Lack of descriptive instructions included.  I would like to know a little more about how to use each feature, and exactly what the u-hooks were designed for

• The only option is stainless steel, I think it would be interesting if the knob could come in different colors in order to match kitchen themes.

Summary

I liked this can opener!  I am definitely going to replace my Kitchen Aid with this one.  I was impressed that this product lived up to the claims that the manufacturer stated.  It was an enjoyable experience to be able to open a can and not fear cutting my thumb (like I always seem to do!).  If you are currently in the market for a real, durable can opener-- you need to check this one out!
